The China National Theater has unveiled its 2026 Hangzhou Season, bringing five acclaimed stage productions to the city from April to June.
Co-presented with the Zhejiang Performing Arts Group under the theme "Spring in Hangzhou", the season features a diverse lineup spanning historical, realist and experimental works. Highlights include Art in the War of Resistance, a documentary-style drama portraying wartime cultural figures; the realist play Stories of Gulou; and the award-winning philosophical drama Copenhagen.
Also featured are Three Lives Above The Peony Pavilion, inspired by Tang Xianzu's classic, and a stage adaptation of Lao She's Four Generations Under One Roof, directed by Tian Qinxin and starring renowned actor Duan Yihong as the closing performance.
Organizers said the season aims to blend literary heritage with contemporary expression, offering audiences a rich theatrical experience and further boosting Hangzhou's cultural scene.
