On September 22, the 5th World Congress of Biosphere Reserves(WCBR) opened in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. Ding Xuexiang, the member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the vice prime minister of the State Council, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech.

This is the first time for Asia to hold theevent, and is also a grand event with the widest participation of UNESCO member states.The event discusses the implementation of Hangzhou Strategic Action Plan for UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme and Its World Network of Biosphere Reserves (2026-2025), releases Hangzhou Declaration, and formulates the development blueprint for the next decade, to provide global ecological governance with "Chinese solution".
