On July 14, two newly-hatched mandarin ducks were discovered near Su Causeway at the West Lake in Hangzhou. This is the 26th litter this year, and is also the latest batch to leave the nest.

The survival rate of mandarin ducks increases significantly, which benefits from excellent water environment, as well as volunteers and scenic area protection. Since the first litter appeared on April 25, the West Lake and its surrounding waters have bred 32 litters this year, with 259 ducklings, which exceeds the historical record of 28 litters with 233 ducklings in 2021.
