On June 7, the West Lake in Hangzhou greeted the 28th litter ofmandarinducklingsthis year, with seven ducklings. So far, the West Lake (including peripheral area) has bred 28 litters this year, with 239 ducklings, which has set a new high in recent years in terms of the number of litters and ducklings. This displays the vigorous vitality of mandarin duck population at the West Lake, and is also a microcosm ofthe continuous improvement of ecosystem and the increasing effectivenessof biodiversity protection at the West Lake in recent years.
