Hangzhou's popular landmark, "Yoga Panda", located at the intersection of Tianmushan and Wantang roads, has put on a vibrant spring outfit, attracting crowds.
Dressed in a vivid magenta floral cloak made from over 23,000 super petunias, the panda now features a striking 3D floral design created through dense planting — 504 plants per square meter — and vertical insertion techniques. The trumpet-shaped flowers follow the panda's yoga pose in soft waves, resembling flowing clouds from afar and displaying rich detail up close.
The base of the sculpture has also been refreshed with a color-gradient flowerbed, featuring a mix of over 10 flower varieties, including Juice Balcony roses and blue sage, creating a picturesque spring scene.
According to the Xihu district urban management bureau, the super petunia — a hybrid of petunia and impatiens — produces three times more blooms than ordinary varieties and is well-suited to Hangzhou's rainy spring weather. The best time to visit is now through mid-June, especially on dew-covered mornings or after light rain, when the colors are at their brightest.
Visitors are advised to take Metro Line 3 to Gudang station or bike to the site, and to avoid peak hours for a more peaceful experience. Urban maintenance teams will continue dynamic care to ensure the flowers remain in full bloom through early summer.
