Young Hangzhou talent nominated for 2025 China Youth May Fourth Medal

Hangzhou is once again in the national spotlight, as three of its outstanding representatives – two individuals and one youth team – have been shortlisted for the 2025 China Youth May Fourth Medal, the country's top honor for young role models.

According to a public announcement released on April 7, Wang Xingxing, general manager and CTO of the Hangzhou-based Unitree Robotics, Chen Lijun, a celebrated Yueju Opera performer of the Zhejiang Xiaobaihua Yueju Opera Troupe, and the youth team from Game Science, another developer in Hangzhou, have been nominated for their remarkable contributions.

Unitree gained national attention with its dynamic robot showcase at the 2025 CCTV Spring Festival Gala, where its machines captivated millions of viewers with a futuristic performance. Chen's graceful appearance at the same event introduced the beauty of Yueju Opera to a nationwide audience. The youth team from Game Science are creators of the highly anticipated action RPGBlack Myth: Wukong. With 107 members – 79 of whom are under 35 – the team has pushed the boundaries of Chinese digital storytelling and global game development.

The shortlist was finalized through a rigorous process jointly organized by the Communist Youth League of China and the All-China Youth Federation, with 30 individuals and 30 groups selected nationwide.

The public notice period will run from April 7 to 11, during which feedback on the nominees is invited.

As the nation looks to celebrate young innovators and changemakers, Hangzhou's nominations once again showcase the city's dynamic talent and forward-looking spirit.
